Hey There!
If you're interested in getting to know a little more about me, just scroll below and get cozy - I'm a talker!
As a somatic trauma-informed perinatal coach and doula, I have received specialized training in supporting those who have experienced trauma during their life and may have triggers that bring that trauma out during pregnancy, childbirth, or postpartum. The trauma-informed doula is equipped with the knowledge and skills to help someone navigate the emotional and physical challenges that can arise during these sacred times. Some are not even aware that they carry trauma within them until this time of life - having a trauma-informed doula means having someone around who can recognize signs of a trauma-response and be ready to guide you with acceptance and understanding. By working with a somatic trauma-informed perinatal coach, one can benefit from a more personalized and holistic approach to their perinatal care. This leads to increased feelings of safety, empowerment, and confidence throughout the perinatal period.
Trained in the Spinning Babies Technique
Doulas who use the Spinning Babies Technique are trained to help pregnant people achieve optimal fetal positioning as their body prepares for labor and birth. This technique involves a series of exercises and positions that encourage the baby to move into the best position for birth. Many do not realize that babies must navigate the pelvis through a series of positions and motions. By working with a doula who is trained in this technique, women can increase their chances of having a shorter labor, fewer interventions, and a more positive birth experience overall.
A Little Bit About Me
I am originally from the mid-west and moved to San Antonio in 2017 just one week after we got married. Active Duty at the time, my husband got orders to Lackland Air Force Base, so we eloped on a tree farm and packed up our apartment to head to Texas. Shortly after settling in to our second home, we decided we were ready to grow our family and were absolutely shocked when we were successful in our attempts the first time around. We also didn't have "global pandemic" on our 2020 bingo cards, but as everyone knows, the world flipped upside down in March and here I was pregnant with my first child and working as a shift lead in a veterinary hospital that didn't close down for anything. Unlike so many that suffered from the Covid restrictions in place, I was incredibly fortunate to receive my care at Birth Center Stone Oak where my husband was able to attend every prenatal and I was treated as a unique individual from the day we took our tour to the last postpartum visit. I truly had an amazing and empower first pregnancy, labor, and birth experience and for that, I am eternally grateful to the midwifery team that cared for me. It was because of the care I received and the experience I had that I became enamored with birthwork.

I loved being pregnant so much that I knew I wanted to do it again, but my husband and I weren't ready for another baby of our own yet. After weaning my son from nursing at 18 months old, I partnered with a surrogacy agency and matched with an incredible couple that wanted to start their family. Because of the contracts in place, I had to labor and birth in a hospital - something I agreed to do because I knew that my discomfort in that setting was a necessary hurdle to bring that baby into the world. I wanted to be armed to the teeth going into a hospital birth and so I hired a doula and that whisper that had been calling to me for so long got louder. My doula was not only knowledgeable, empathetic, affirming, and kind, but she was also fierce, empowered, strong, and skilled. She supported me through six-and-a-half weeks of hospitalized bedrest following a cervical cerclage and quickly became more than just a doula, but a friend. That friendship has lasted far beyond the postpartum period and she is one of the most influential reasons that I am a doula today.

Since the birth of my son in 2020, I have spent countless hours learning about evidence-based care during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. While earning my bachelor's degree in psychology, I focused all of my research on the many facets of pregnancy and birth so I could one day step into birth work and make a positive impact. In June of 2024, I took my leap and earned my birth doula certification through BEST Doula Training and Blooming Lotus was born. My job is to provide holistic doula services to clients with the goal to educate, advocate, empower, and inspire each person to strive for their ideal birth experience. Above all else, I want my clients to feel confident and prepared for their birth with me by their side, no matter what twists and turns birth my take!
